Silverback Gaming’s new fruit machine-styled title, Mystery Stacks, has been awarded SlotBeats’ Slot of the Week.

Mystery Stacks takes the iconic aesthetic and blends it into a 3×5 video slot featuring a variety of bonuses that can be triggered along the way.

Set for launch on October 22, the game combines a nostalgic look with a modern twist to aesthetically entice its players, along with traditional bright lights and psychedelic soundtrack.

Raphael Di Guisto, founder & CEO at Silverback Gaming, commented: “Silverback Gaming’s philosophy is based on creativity, simplicity and elegance – and Mystery Stacks ticks all the boxes.

“This striking slot might have a classic feel and simple gameplay, but the design, soundtracks and fast-paced action elevates it to another level. We’re delighted to add Mystery Stacks to our collection on the Relax Gaming Silver Bullet platform and we hope a whole new audience of players are entertained when it launches on 22 October.”

Silverback Gaming’s title is the second game to be made available via Relax Gaming’s Silver Bullet platform, following on from the debut of Aztec Luck in July.

The slot has a heavy emphasis on combinations as the 10 payline title rewards players with prizes ranging from a trio of cherries to 5x bells. However, the game’s twist comes through the use of the Mystery Stacks’ mystery coin and mega coin feature.

Mystery coin’s will circulate the reels alongside the classic icons and if a player lands on them the coin is triggered to reveal a random symbol, which increases your chances of securing a winning combination. Also, should a player land on the mega coin the reels will be automatically filled with one symbol resulting in cluster combinations and the opportunity to win huge prizes.

Simon Hammon, chief product officer at Relax Gaming, added: “We’re thrilled to launch Mystery Stacks via our Silver Bullet partner programme; the latest fantastic release from Silverback Gaming.

“This traditional-style slot is sure to be a fan favourite and we can’t wait for players to experience the bright lights of Mystery Stacks.”

Whilst land-based casinos suffered heavily due to the global health pandemic, it has been well documented that during lockdown there has been an overall increase in the popularity of online casino offerings.

With the likes of poker seeing a resurgence online and more operators shifting their focus to the virtual landscape, the live casino industry has also seen a significant interest in the game show segment leading to the question, is this variant the next big thing for the sector?

Speaking on the final day of SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital, Rokas Benetis, head of live casino at LeoVegas, detailed the rise of game show content and why the offering is booming.

“Game Shows as a game type only appeared in this industry just a couple of years ago, with the evolution and launch of Dream Catcher being the first sort of non classical table game variant,” he explained.

“The games themselves are sort of coming from popular TV shows. You’re currently on an offering where you have Deal or No Deal, Monopoly, you know, Dream Catcher and other games, which are on a different level in terms of player engagement.

“It’s more attractive to a wider audience and I think the players feel more comfortable on them because they’re much simpler to players or require a lesser knowledge level to play them.

“It really opened the door for a much wider player profile for live games. I know in the past when we see you know, the specific profiles tend to gravitate towards classical games like blackjack or roulette. But the growth in the last couple of years really came from game shows.”

Ciara Nic Liam, product director games of chance at Betsson Group, agreed with Benetis’ comments whilst also highlighting that game shows in live casinos also came at the perfect time given that the sector was undergoing new regulations.

Nic Liam added: “I think the piece worth pointing out as well is the emergence of those game shows came at a really great time when there was an enhanced focus on due diligence and KYC and people weren’t just trying to bring in large live casino VIPs that wanted private tables.

“People pivoted more to recreational players and their player base to make sure their casino was more sustainable. So people push these games quite heavily. There were live casino players that tried these game shows, and that was to love to buy them. But actually, as we see, even with the streamer community, it’s a lot of predominantly strong, slot players that go on and play these game shows.

“What we then find is we try to up-sell them and cross sell them to other live casino games because a live casino customer in a lot of markets can be more valuable than a slots customer.”

However, whilst OneTouch’s head of product, Madis Raus, agreed with the panellists over the popularity of game shows, he feels that there is still room in the market to attract this new audience whilst also maintaining a strong consumer base for land-based casinos. Especially when land-based venues offer more of a localised feel than their online counterparts.

“I definitely see the game shows more appealing to the younger generation that actually are looking for this excitement, entertainment and also the community feeling,” Raus commented. “I don’t think these game shows will attract those hardcore gamblers very well.”

“What I see is that those, like regular guys playing in land based casinos, one of the things that they definitely might want is the localisation. Probably a Japanese guy doesn’t want to play with an English speaking dealer is one of the things and if we offer them the same local experience that they could get from the local casinos, this might help.”

The panel, which was moderated by Arjan Korstjens, marketing consultant at ExPlayner, also discussed what lessons can be learnt from both industries to ensure that land-based and online can prosper.

Richard Walker, head of digital table games at Rank Interactive, explained that retail needs to look at online offerings and attempt to ‘catch up’ in terms of the technology that live casino’s have.

Walker said: “Obviously there is a lot more technology wise for digital gaming and retail are trying to get there now, looking to use the Dragon Fire roulette multipliers in. We are looking to launch something similar in retail and the demand for it online is massive to kind of retail are trying to catch online with their offering rather than the other way around.”

Moving back to localisation of live casinos, Nic Liam emphasised the importance of ensuring that the correct products are offered to customers in specific regions to create a greater understanding for the customer.

“When we look at places like Asia or the African continent, and like America we definitely see an emergence of different pieces and what we really strive to do is make sure we offer the best regionally diverse content to our customers, whether that’s something in LatAm, specifically, or whether it’s a version of Turkish poker.

“I think if you want to compete in a region, you need to make sure that you understand and you respect what the local games are and you try and compete on that front rather than just thinking that you know, European games are going to work in every region because we know that’s not always the case.”

Artificial intelligence and machine learning have become ever more prevalent in business strategies in recent years, with igaming businesses aiming to utilise the technology to enhance its range of products and services.

Speaking on day two of SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital, Américo Loureiro, the director of casino firm Solverde, expressed his optimism for AI implementation into the industry, and foresees that it will be difficult for operators to increase the customer experience without the use of the technology in the future.

For sure what we are focusing on is to increase our customer experience, the winning experience, and that leads to revenue and revenue on the lower end. I’m not seeing operators managing their operations without the help of AI in the near future. Talking about revenues, I think it’s too much over the next three years with everything on the internet,” Loureiro commented.

“Our plan is for the next three years to increase the AI on our operations and get benefits from this, we know that this is the very beginning and we want to be on top of this because the ones that agree more with AI and manage AI will be the most successful operators.”

Edvinas Subacius, the chief data officer of Rootz, a firm that has placed AI at the centre of its business, also highlighted that the technology is not just a tool for the near future, but it can also be utilised in the igaming industry right away, particularly when it comes to maximising staff efficiency.

“It was most definitely a strategic decision to place AI in the centre of thought when we started designing the platform,” Subacius explained. “This vision is continuing up to the level of hiring of every single employee. We make them aware of this vision and this goal of automating our boring tasks and encouraging people on their Thursday to contribute to that.

“We know that we can increase player turnover or spending up to five per cent by doing recommendation engines. At the same time, we know that we increase their lifetime value between ten per cent to 20 per cent so four times more than actual spending by applying AI to manage our bonus cost and promotional values.

“But these are all confusing numbers and I think the best measure that companies need to come up with to analyse or answer this question is how many operations you can get done per headcount or how much more revenue does the headcount generate.

“So for example, our company has about 70 employees, and we are running operations equal to the other companies, which have 300 to 500 employees. So the sooner you start with AI, and the closer it is to the heart of your mentality and your platform, it can create the efficiency of 100 per cent or 1000 per cent scale. It’s not five per cent anymore.”

Steven Paton, the business solutions advisor for BMIT Technologies, also highlighted that AI is ready for its integration into platforms, with the technology providing companies with an enhanced customer experience which Loureiro alluded to prior.

“From the gaming industry, we are all aware that data collection from customers and markets has been going on for decades and this has allowed these algorithms to be now present in the form of AI and Machine Learning going further forward,” he said.

“It is absolutely imperative to understand those touch points where these clients come and where the customers come to enjoy a gaming experience. Whether they are here for the fun aspect, whether they’re just doing it for the sake of it. It’s being able to utilise those touch points, cross channels.

“I think the next step is definitely the transitional phase of utilising big data and machine learning to push that further over the next five years.”

Neel Davda, head of gaming EMEA at Bold360 also discussed the methods in which clients are being introduced to AI.

He added:Having worked with a number of gaming clients, two of the largest globally over the last couple of years, what we have tried to work with them on is really a 30/40/60 model. So the main drivers really have been contact deflection and with an initial deployment, where we talk about that initial use of simple types of FAQ, we can immediately start to see that.

“If you think about any type of interaction you’ve had in the past with the kind of rudimentary chatbots or virtual assistants, usually you ask a very simple question and it says it doesn’t understand.

“So our ability is really to cluster those and understand those straight off the bat and then with that, apply kind of a one shot learning methodology where we are able to show from there the insight as to did the person click on that, was there a successful outcome, was that positive or negative feedback, and if there was negative feedback how to solve that very quickly. Without the need to code, without need to wait for a person within a professional services department to turn that around for you.”

The panel, which was moderated by iGaming Performance’s CEO Paul McNea, also discussed a range of topics including the effect AI can have on analytics, data, and user retention whilst also discussing when to opt for internal AI solutions or to purchase externally.

Anna Gaivoronska, head of business intelligence and analytics at Parimatch summed up the inter/external dilemma by explaining that it depends on what the platform’s goals are with AI integration and also which sector it plans to implement the technology.

She stated: “It often depends on the time factor. If you need results quickly, you can buy externally and ,at the same time, you can develop solutions in house for more long term projects. So basically, if you need to have results in the near future, you can buy some solution. You can invest money in that project. But if you’re looking in the long term for a more customised solution, you should build in house.”

As the panel was coming to a close, Paton provided the final words in the discussion as he highlighted that the future of AI/ML in the igaming industry is certainly in the payments sector. However, he stresses that it is crucial that a customer centric vision is created alongside that development.

Paton concluded:I do think that the payment ecosystem is going to be very much a pressing movement forward. I think we also have to pay attention to the customer centric aspect alongside that with the customer experience as an overall agenda that should be moving forward. At the end of the day, we are here because our businesses are customer centric and need to be able to facilitate the needs of those customers, as an individual and as a unique individual who will then take it forward.

“Whether it’s a payment ecosystem, whether it’s a customer service query, whether it’s CRM or bonus’ I think they’re all compiled together to be almost just as important.”

Relax Gaming’s action-packed sequel Money Train 2 has claimed SlotBeats’ Slot of the Week as the title immerses its players in a steam-punk inspired, post-apocalyptic world.

Promising an exhilarating player experience like no other, the four main characters leave the Wild West behind to embark on a whole new adventure.

The five-reel, 40-payline game area, sees players embrace Money Train 2’s new feature additions while also encountering the ever-popular Money Cart Bonus Round that made the original title one of Relax’s highest-earning slots to date.

Simon Hammon, Relax Gaming CPO, commented: “From day one, Money Train was a strong hit and has continued to attract players to this day. Given this significant level of popularity, we saw huge potential in delivering a sequel that moved the dial even further in terms of engagement.

“Having listened intently to feedback from both players and operators, Money Train 2 delivers on every aspect, from the unique theme and experience-enhancing animations to the mechanics that make it a standout contender. It’s what a great sequel should be.”

As alluded to, the slot, which has a slight increase in RTP to 96.4 per cent, jumping to 98 per cent when the bonus-buy feature is activated, includes the ever-popular Money Cart round. However, in addition to the original multiplier and free spin action, the feature has introduced a new twist where an additional two reels can be unlocked if a reel is filled with symbols.

Among the revamped features, Relax has rolled out a new Respin feature, triggered when two bonus symbols land anywhere on the reels. According to the developer, this was designed to ramp up the action in the base game in response to feedback on the original’s gameplay.

During the feature, each bonus symbol displayed will reveal multipliers that are added together, as an extra reward respins are also given until a win is built up. The accumulated multiplier is then applied to the total, significantly boosting both the excitement level and winning potential outside the bonus round.

Last week Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that casinos in England will not reopen on August 1 during a Downing Street briefing on lockdown restrictions. Ultimately this has impacted the industry, further delaying the sectors return to normality.

Genting UK was one of many Casino brands questioning the decision by the Prime Minister, especially with the announcement coming in such a short notice.

In a statement the firm condemned the decision to delay the re-opening by citing that the decision should have been made sooner not ‘less than 24 hours’ notice as to this change of plan’.

Speaking to Casino Beats, Jon Duffy, senior vice president corporate assurance and regulatory affairs at Genting UK, explains the impact this decision has on the company and highlights the precautions the firm had put in place prior to the delay.

CasinoBeats Following the government’s announcement, how do these further delays impact Genting, the casino industry and the future of your employees?

Jon Duffy: It is no exaggeration to say that we are devastated by today’s announcement. The late notice in itself has caused huge damage to our business as we had brought a significant number of staff off of furlough to prepare for the re-opening and have incurred a number of other costs which will now all be wasted – perishable food and drink products, for example.

We have been meticulously planning our re-opening for weeks now and were finally looking forward to being able to take a positive step forward… but instead we are going several steps back. To say today’s decision has come as a huge blow is an understatement.

We have been incurring huge losses since the start of this pandemic, and now, for every week we remain closed, it is costing us in the region of £1.5m. Every week! Of course this is an unsustainable position to be in and we are reaching a very critical stage.

CB: Why do you think the government believes casinos outside the North West have to remain closed?

JD: This makes no sense to us. The Prime Minister described his approach as ‘whack-a-mole’ but now we find ourselves in a situation where our casino in Plymouth is having to stay shut because of a spike in cases in the north west. That is clearly not logical.

We also have other contradictory policies being pushed ahead with. The government’s ‘eat out to help out’ scheme is still being rolled out from next week, which actively encourages groups of people to go to restaurants and pubs and to mix with people indoors.

But yet casinos have to remain shut – despite all of the meticulous planning we have carried out and all the measures we have put in place to make our environments as safe as possible. We are confident that our casinos are as safe, if not more so, than other environments across other industries that are currently operating, so we cannot make sense of the situation we find ourselves in.

CB: What measures were put into place for the original reopening date of August 1?

JD: Our planning has been absolutely meticulous, and all of the measures that have been put in place have been approved by Public Health England.

These include, but are not limited to, hand sanitizer stations installed across the estate with customers required to clean their hands upon entering and exiting the building and between playing all games, the enforcement of social distancing throughout all of our venues and one way systems created where necessary.

Capacity being reduced throughout all of our clubs and player numbers at tables were being restricted. Screens had been installed in between all of our slots and e-gaming tables, and we had created strict cleaning protocols throughout all of our premises and in relation to casino-specific items.

For example, we had systems in place to reduce circulation of chips and to ensure they were being sanitized between uses. And there were plenty of other measures being taken too. We really believe we had thought of everything and are confident our environments are safe, and certainly as safe as other leisure environments such as bars and restaurants.

CB: How many more delays can the casino industry take?

JD: The government needs to understand how critical this now is. Thousands of jobs across the UK are at risk. Genting have already had to make a series of heartbreaking decisions as a result of this pandemic, including making over 1,000 people redundant.

We are battling to save as many of the remaining jobs as we can, but clearly the delays and the uncertainty do nothing to help. We need urgent clarity.

We need to re-open in the parts of the country where other leisure businesses are now operating, and we also urge the government to reconsider the blanket withdrawal of the furlough scheme from the affected industries, who are still not permitted to re-open.

CasinoBeats Malta Digital officially opened its virtual doors today with the event highlighting some of the growing opportunities in the world of igaming and the gambling industry.

However, the event also emphasised the importance of esports to the betting sector and the validity of using customer education within the industry. During the digital summit’s ‘Malta: The esports opportunity’ panel Eirik Kristiansen, the CEO of Pixelbet, an esportsbook and casino platform, stated that the use of widgets can help educate traditional customers into participating in esport betting activities.

“What we try to do is we try to have simplified widgets and easy access to data because I know that a lot of punters specifically, but also less active bettors, they basically make a lot of their decisions not based on emotions but based on data,” he stated

“If you make data easily accessible through widgets and have a very intuitive way of placing bets I think it’s quite natural without doing any straight-forward education about the sport itself. But, you provide them with the tools to make an educated guess nonetheless.”

Adam Savinson, head of esports at Betway Group, also brought up that while a lot of firms are teaching its customers, they may still never be invested in the industry. As a result, it might be best to focus on the new influx of bettors who already understand competitive gaming.

“If you are trying to get through a period where there is low volumes of sports. Like right now, we see a lot of operators trying to educate their existing customer base. But, you’re never going to really have the great esport fans that are going to become a good quality customer,” Savinson commented

“There is definitely value in educating people but, that’s only if esports is a very small part of your retention strategy rather than anything you’re taking seriously. I wouldn’t discourage anybody but it’s not enough.”

Attention then turned to how esports casuals can be educated to take a step into the betting landscape. Due to the global health pandemic viewership of esport events dramatically rose and so Stepan Shu, head of esports at Parimatch, discussed that players should also be educated about betting in order to continue the sector’s growth.

“Education of any kind has a value,” emphasised Shu. “The common thing that you have to consider all the time is that the young generation might not understand how betting works. You have to educate them, to show them the odds.

“If you are doing this then at least you understand that you are not missing anything, that someone who will join your platform maybe will understand how to place bets, how odds are calculated, what is the profit.”

However, Kristiansen argues that the esports generation are already aware about betting and gambling practices due to the applications that certain game titles include, such as loot boxes and skin roulettes.

He adds: “My impression is that the young people playing esports have a very good understanding of what betting is and have a very good understanding of odds and how it works.

“I think the reason is because almost all games contain some gambling aspects. There are loot boxes and skins, and there’s different types of trading and you open certain types of crates that have a probability of giving you a certain set of skins. These things apply in almost every single game that you play.

“The mindset of the younger generation is that they want to open things, they want to get rewards, they have more foundational betting experience.

“So, I think it’s easier for them to enter a betting space which also leaves a room for a little bit of caution because it’s then up to us to be very responsible and show that we create a good path when it comes to betting going forward.”

The panel, which was moderated by Esports Insider co-founder and managing director Sam Cooke, is just a sample of what CasinoBeats Malta Digital has to offer with the event featuring 40 virtual exhibitors, numerous networking opportunities, 130 leading speakers, and countless business opportunities for 3,000 senior decision-makers from operators, suppliers, affiliates and other industry stakeholders in the casino and igaming sector.

As a number of new igaming titles grace the CasinoBeats inbox, sit back and get to grips with a select few new slot games in one handy bite-size chunk.

Big Time Gaming – Star Clusters

Big Time Gaming will introduce its new Megaclusters game engine with the release of Star Clusters on 24th June with the slot expected to ‘forever change our perception of cluster-pays slots’.

The symbols in this game consist of various gems which are aqua, yellow, orange, green, blue, red and purple which can offer up to 50x the original stake. The two wild symbols, a regular wild and a special gold wild, help pull clusters together.

With the Megaclusters mechanic, each symbol that forms part of a winning combo will split into four smaller symbols to create even more Megaclusters. As a result the 4×4 grid with 16 tiles can break into a maximum of 64 tiles during Star Cluster’s Megaclusters mode.

Dylan Slaney, SVP Gaming, Digital at Scientific Games, stated: “This is an exciting new development that once again brings breakthrough player experiences from our OpenGamingTM ecosystem.

“What I love about BTG’s games is their ability to redesign a classic by using rich layers of technology to create something diverting and unexpected. That’s really evident in Star Clusters and it’s a thrill to bring the global launch of this new Megaclusters mechanic as an exclusive first on OGS.”

Big Time Gaming CEO Nick Robinson added: “We believe that Megacluster is quite literally a game changer in the online casino space and we’re delighted that it’s received a great reception from reviewers. Expect to see this mechanic feature in more BTG games in the future.”

Evoplay – Fluffy Rangers

Evoplay has launched its latest title Fluffy Rangers with the game implementing a range of interactive promotional activities.

Through the use of Face filters on instagram players can interact with the slots five main characters Katara the sheep, Shu Shu the raccoon, Lin the monkey, Drago the coyote, and Shadi the lynx.

The 20 payline, 3×5 video slot features a free Spins Round that involves collecting all five Fluffy Rangers symbols. If the characters are collected then wild ranger symbols burst onto the reels, providing a greater chance to win big.

Ivan Kravchuk, CEO at Evoplay Entertainment stated: “Players with a taste for adventure and all things adorable are invited to an action-packed jousting tournament in the magical forest of Rabbitland.

“We’ve continued to go from strength to strength in recent months with a rapidly expanding global fanbase and are delighted to showcase another industry first with Instagram filters for our game’s lovable characters. We can’t wait to see what our players make of it!”

Habanero – Scopa

Taking influence from the popular Italian table title of the same name, Habanero’s latest slot Scopa takes the game to the virtual world on a 3-4-3 grid featuring original characters and an authentic soundtrack.

The aim of the game is to ‘sweep’ the reel matching the symbols which are available. As a result, all tiles on the screen are winning symbols, meaning that paylines are not necessary.

A $1.50 bet can see a player win from $0.30 (by matching three low price symbols) to $25 (five king symbols) before any multipliers are added. Moreover, during the titles free spins round, players depart on an immersive journey through the nation’s historic regions. These stops, which include Genoa, Milan, Naples, Tuscany and Venice, are intended to acknowledge the game’s origin with each city also adding a special feature to the slot.

Arcangelo Lonoce, Head of Business Development Europe at Habanero commented: “We are delighted to release the immersive hit Scopa across our operator network, and we are proud of what we have achieved in transposing the much-loved card game of the same name into this innovative slot formula.

“We hope that transporting players on a memorable exploration of Italy’s vibrant past while playing its favourite card game will prove to be the perfect hit – and we’re excited to be bringing it to our players in Italy and the world over.”

Endorphina – The Rise of AI

Set in the year 2025 The Rise of AI, Endorphina’s new cyberpunk release, combines traditional slot play with a classic card game to provide the opportunity for greater rewards.

If a player wins they can gamble in the classic Risk Game. Choosing a card from the four cards dealt on the table, a player can increase their win up to 10 times. If the selected card beats the Dealer’s card, the win is doubled, and the player can try again. If the Dealer wins in any round, the risk game ends with no wins awarded to the player.

The slot is equipped with a 5-reel, 3-row, with 10 paylines, however, during every spin there is the possibility for a random multiplier thanks to another feature by Endorphina. In total the value of a payout can rise up to x50.

The CEO of Endorphina, Jan Urbanec, stated:  “Endorphina’s team is excited to bring to its players and operators our vision of a cyberpunk world. “The Rise of AI” contains a mathematical model with one of the best big winning potential for players that Endorphina has ever created.”

Rivers Casino Des Plaines and Rush Street Interactive (RSI) have launched a new online sportsbook BetRivers.com, just in time for sports’ slow resumption.

The online sportsbook will be the first place sports fans in Illinois can ever place a legal online bet. With the Premier League making its anticipated return yesterday and US sports such as MLS, the NBA and NHL gearing up for a return, sports betters now have a new platform available to them, ahead of the improvised summer of sport.

Richard Schwartz, president of Rush Street Interactive stated: “We are excited to make history in bringing the first online sportsbook to sports fans in our home state just in time as American sports are coming back into action.

BetRivers.com sites will live stream hundreds of sporting events so that players can bet while they watch the action. Moreover, Illinois Governor J.B Pritzker’s June 4th executive order temporarily allows players to sign-up on-line or via mobile app and begin placing bets without the need to go to the casino.

The order has been made amidst the global health pandemic allowing BetRivers.com to register its customers from the safety of their homes, something that the state of Illinois doesn’t normally allow.

“While entertainment options are limited as we seek to minimise the spread of the virus, we are focused on BetRivers.com providing sportsbook players with a high-quality on-line product with exciting sports betting options,” Schwartz added.

“We will have great customer service with fast payouts and an overall friendly approach that treats every player with honesty and care.”

As part of both firm’s promotional events players will receive a match bonus up to $250 on their first deposit.
