Aristocrat Gaming has announced the first rollout of its NFL-themed slot portfolio outside of the continental United States of America in Puerto Rico.

The global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of land-based slot and electronic games will distribute NFL Triple Score to 13 casinos on the Jackpot del Encanto link in Puerto Rico.

The NFL Tripe Score slot is available on gaming floors alongside Jackpot del Encanto, which is a program featuring select slot machines in participating casinos across the island. It features a progressive jackpot, beginning at $20,000 and increasing as more people take part.

Aristocrat has outlined that the game is on the MarsX Portrait Cabinet, and modeled after the ‘wildly successful’ Bao Zhu Zhao Fu game family. The game features 32-team graphics, symbols and NFL game footage, exclusive to Aristocrat through its licensing arrangement with the Football League.

Craig Toner, CEO of Aristocrat Gaming, commented, “This launch is a major step forward in continuing our successful partnership with the NFL. The NFL has immense popularity globally with fans all across the world, and we are thrilled to now bring the game to a broader stage. We look forward to seeing the excitement from players in Puerto Rico and continuing the success our award-winning NFL portfolio has seen in North America.”

The company plans to continue its rollout beyond the shores of continental America, with LATAM and Europe earmarked for future releases.

Could NFL-based slots head to the UAE?

In October 2024, Aristocrat Gaming became the first international slot company to be granted a gaming-related vendor license by the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

The license allows the Australia-headquartered company to provide its hardware and services and gaming content through its gaming machines, as well as online games and technology, to other commercial gaming operators who have received a license from the regulator.

Aristocrat Gaming has been approved to do business in the United Arab Emirates after being granted a gaming-related vendor licence by the country’s gambling regulator General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

The firm has stated that it is the first international slot and online technology company to be granted a gaming-related vendor licence by GCGRA, following its establishment last year.

With its licence, Aristocrat will provide its gaming content, hardware and services in the UAE, offering its land-based electronic gaming machines, online games and technology solutions to GCGRA-licensed commercial gaming operators.

Hector Fernandez, CEO of Gaming for Aristocrat, commented: “We are honoured to be the first large, international technology provider to be awarded a gaming-related vendor licence to serve the UAE market.

“At Aristocrat, our vision is to deliver the best seat in the house wherever, and whenever the world plays. We look forward to doing so by providing premium content for players in the UAE while simultaneously encouraging responsible gameplay.”

Aristocrat isn’t the only company with a licence in the UAE, as earlier this month, Wynn Resorts announced it had been awarded a commercial gaming operator licence in the country for its upcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK).

Wynn Resorts has been developing and constructing a resort at Wynn Al Marjan Island in RAK over the past year as part of a joint venture between affiliates of Wynn Resorts, Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding.

The operator has also outlined its financial forecasts for its upcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island resort, where it projects gross gaming revenue (GGR) of up to $1.66bn.

MGM Resorts also has an interest in the UAE, as the operator submitted a formal application for a casino license in Abu Dhabi back in September.

Furthermore, according to Global Investments, analysts at Morgan Stanley have recently underpinned just how lucrative the UAE’s gaming market could be.

Morgan Stanley has predicted that the region’s GGR could total up to $5bn annually, drawing comparisons to Singapore as the investment bank believes the UAE can rival or even exceed that market.

The slot game – titled House of the Dragon – will be installed on Aristocrat’s King Max cabinet as part of the supplier’s existing partnership with Warner Bros, making the announcement ahead of the Game of Thrones prequel series’ second season finale on Sunday, August 4.

“We are thrilled to further the epic entertainment of this hit series with the creation of the new House of the Dragon slot game.

Aristocrat Gaming has unveiled its line of NFL-branded slot machines with the launch of NFL Super Bowl Jackpots, releasing the land-based title as the NFL season begins on September 8.

Having announced the collaboration with an official licensing agreement formed in 2021, Aristocrat Gaming has developed a series of NFL-themed games to ‘bring the largest sports brand in the U.S. to casino floors across the country’.

“Today, we are thrilled to debut the first look of the new NFL-licensed slot machines, which will provide an innovative entertainment experience for millions of NFL fans who enjoy the fun of casino gaming,” commented Hector Fernandez, CEO of Aristocrat Gaming.

Hosted on Aristocrat’s new King Max cabinet, NFL Super Bowl Jackpots is the first instalment of the collaboration, with several other games set to be released over time as part of the multi-year partnership.

With the game, fans of the NFL will be able to experience gameplay features such as six licenced stadium anthems that play during key moments, as well as gaining the chance to win a $1m progressive jackpot.

Other games set to be released later this year or in 2024 through the collaboration include Overtime Cash, Super Bowl Link, NFL Kickoff, Winning Drive and Rings of Victory.

“The unveiling of the first NFL-themed slot machines represents an opportunity to bring the League closer to our fans in a new area,” added Joe Ruggiero, SVP of Consumer Products at the NFL.

Aristocrat Gaming has agreed to become the official slot machines of the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix via a multi-year sponsorship deal.

The F1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to take place on the Las Vegas Strip later this year from November 16-18.

Several casinos along the Strip are partners with the F1 race, including founding partners Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International and Wynn Las Vegas, as well as presenting partners MSG Sphere, Resorts World Las Vegas, and The Venetian Resort.

“Las Vegas is widely known for world-class entertainment, hospitality experiences and slot gaming, which is why we are thrilled to be the official slot machines of the F1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix,” commented Mark Wadley, Chief Marketing Officer of Aristocrat Gaming.

“This event will be like no other and we look forward to inviting interested F1 fans to play our great lineup of entertaining slot games that match the excitement on the track.”

A first cashless gaming trial is to commence in the Australian state of New South Wales today (Monday 10 October), with the maiden test seeing Aristocrat Gaming tech be installed at Wests Newcastle.

With up to 200 members able to utilise the offering, which includes features to reduce risks of gambling harm and to protect against money laundering, Kevin Anderson, minister for Hospitality and Racing, suggested that the three-month evaluation intends to assess benefits for venues and patrons.

Examples of limits that can be set using the technology include session length, frequency of play, total net expenditure in a given period and maximum total bets within a specific time frame.

Furthermore, users can choose which of these limits to activate, and can choose multiple limits which cannot then be altered for 24 hours.

“The trial is part of an exciting new era where innovations such as digital wallets offer customers greater convenience and control over their spending and help venues and authorities identify suspected cases of money laundering,” Anderson said.

“Technology developed by Aristocrat Gaming has been installed on 36 of the Wests club’s gaming machines using Bluetooth to connect patrons’ mobile phones to machines.

“The technology will allow for a Bluetooth connection between a patron’s mobile phone and the machine. This will let patrons transfer money directly from the gaming wallet on their phone onto the machine.

“The digital wallet can be used to fund gaming machine play and players can set spending or time limits, access real-time spending data, take a break or self-exclude from gambling and access other responsible gambling tools and services. Patrons cannot load funds into the gaming wallet from the gaming floor.

“The digital wallet requires a person’s identity to be confirmed before they can play and they are linked to that person’s debit card or bank account which means authorities can identify where those funds have come from if needed.”

David Ronson, Managing Director Aristocrat Gaming APAC, added that the investment in cashless payment solutions, through digital wallet tech, comes as the group aims to “deliver a complete digital experience for patrons”.

“This trial builds on our long-standing commitment to patron choice, and welfare,” said Phil Gardner, CEO of The Wests Group Australia.

“We know many of our patrons want the convenience of digital payments, which is part of this trial. The trial also allows us to offer a powerful new suite of digital tools to empower our members and allow them to set limits, speak to a staff member, or even exclude themselves from the club if they choose.”

Furthermore, it was also noted that the government has also approved three other gaming manufacturers to conduct similar trials, with a further application currently being assessed.

“The trials will explore different technologies and solutions to enable cashless gaming play in NSW, and trial important harm minimisation measures which will help individuals to take greater control of their gambling,” Anderson ended.

Aristocrat is looking to take its gaming division “to the next level” after confirming a pair of appointments to maintain its leadership team expansion.

This has seen Deanne McKissick be named Chief Supply Chain Officer, with Mark Wadley becoming Chief Marketing Officer of Aristocrat Gaming.

Reporting to Hector Fernandez, CEO of Aristocrat Gaming, the former will be tasked with managing the entire global supply chain in a bid to ensure that customers “continue to have the best product purchasing experience”.

McKissick most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Americas Supply Chain and Customer Order Execution, managing sales support, configuration and order change, material oversight, dual site manufacturing, and quality and customer delivery coordination.

Elsewhere, Wadley will oversee all marketing efforts at a global level as the company voices an aim of maximising the value of the gaming division and products.

Previously, he was the Senior Vice President of Marketing, responsible for marketing strategy, branding and partnerships for the Americas Region

“As we continue to focus on changing the game, our superb talent is a core component of our ability to lead the market,” said Fernandez.

“Deanne and Mark’s backgrounds lend a unique perspective to help take our business to the next level. We are delighted to welcome both to the global gaming leadership team where they will continue to inspire our employees, vendors, partners and customers to reach new heights.”

In May, Aristocrat reaffirmed that it was pursuing opportunities to accelerate its ‘build and buy’ real money gaming strategy as the group looks to become the “leading gaming platform” across the industry.

This blueprint was first detailed earlier in the year and is to see Aristocrat “invest strongly” in building its online RMG infrastructure while pursuing M&A, partnerships and talent acquisition to drive its ambitions forward further still.

Aristocrat is pursuing opportunities to accelerate its ‘build and buy’ real money gaming strategy as the group looks to become the “leading gaming platform” across the industry.

This blueprint was first detailed earlier in the year and is to see Aristocrat “invest strongly” in building its online RMG infrastructure while pursuing M&A, partnerships and talent acquisition to drive its ambitions forward further still.

This comes as the company details a 23.1 per cent uptick in operating revenue during the six months ending March 31, 2022, to A$2.74bn (2021: A$2.22bn), driven by organic growth across Aristocrat Gaming and Pixel United, formerly the group’s digital division.

Normalised profit after tax increased 46.5 per cent to A$530.7m (2021: A$362.2m)  despite mixed operating conditions and supply chain disruptions, with EBITDA up 30.3 per cent to A$970.3m (2021: A$744.5m).

Trevor Croker, Aristocrat Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, explained: “Aristocrat delivered an impressive and resilient performance despite mixed operational conditions and challenges.

“We took comprehensive action to protect our people and business, while investing strongly to accelerate our growth strategy going forward.

“Our sustained investment in talent, technology and product enables us to continue to take share wherever we play and delivered significant top and bottom-line growth in the first half of fiscal 2022

“We are accelerating the implementation of our ‘build and buy’ strategy to scale in online real money gaming, which provides further channels for us to distribute our world-leading content.

“Our ambition is to be the leading gaming platform in the global online RMG industry, and we anticipate being live with igaming products in two jurisdictions in the US by the end of calendar year 2022.”

For the full-year to September 30, 2022, Aristocrat anticipates further investment to drive sustained, long-term growth, which it says will likely fall above the historic range of 11 per cent to 12 per cent of revenue. Further expenditure is also expected to support the ongoing RMG strategy.

“We continue to make progress in our sustainability efforts, including our commitment to responsible gameplay, and to adopting a group-wide science-based emissions reduction target by the end of calendar year 2023,” Croker added.

“Aristocrat enters the second half with excellent fundamentals and strong operational momentum, a robust balance sheet and an abundance of opportunity to accelerate our growth strategy.”
