As a number of new igaming titles grace the CasinoBeats inbox, sit back and get to grips with a select few new slot games in one handy bite-size chunk.

Wild Gold – Spearhead Studios

Spearhead Studios has debuted its 30th title via the 5×3, 10 fixed payline Wild Gold, which includes a multiplying wild and card gamble feature.

In the title, the Wild Gold symbol is the multiplying wild which exists on reels one, three and five. It substitutes any symbol to create the highest possible win on a payline.

Furthermore, if it is involved in a winning combination, the Wild Gold symbol will reveal itself to be either a x2, x3 or x7 wild multiplier. Additionally, if there are more than one multiplier involved in a win, the value of each will be combined to create a bigger multiplier.

Moreover, the game includes a card gamble mode which can be entered by clicking its name sakes button after any win. During this mode, the player can double or quadruple their win if they correctly guess either the suite colour or symbol.

“Wild Gold is an exciting slot that we are happy to bring into our portfolio. We are certain that players will very much enjoy the core feature of this 5×3, 10-payline slot, in which the first, middle and last reels can all become ‘all wild’, with each wild also carrying a win multiplier of up to x7.” – Kevin Corti, Game Development Director at Spearhead.

The Green Knight – Play’n Go

The gaming content supplier has delved into Arthurian legend for its first release in march, and the second in this series, with the release of The Green Knight.

Following in the footsteps of Lord Merlin & The Lady of the Lake, the title centres around the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, a tale based on chivalry and bravery.

The group asserts that “the focus here is on the potential,” with it possible to achieve 10,000x your bet as well as a guaranteed spin with a x100 multiplier in the free spins round, and the possibility of triggering shield spins with the x100 multiplier in play, giving a chance for heightened wins.

“We are always looking to innovate; be that varying the shapes of the grid, introducing new features, or playing with different themes too.

“Many others overlook narrative, but we believe that the story is an integral part of entertainment. You look at any popular game, film, or book, and the foundation is telling a great story. Once you have that, you can build a great game around it, and anything is possible.” – Martin Zettergren, Play’n Go CPO.

Wheel of Fortune Megaways – IGT & Big Time Gaming

International Game Technology has paired its Wheel of Fortune slots brand with Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic to create its new title Wheel of Fortune Megaways.

Wheel of Fortune Megaways, which saw BetMGM become one of the first online casinos in New Jersey to offer the title, is a six-reel video that offers players 117,649 ways to win, increasing to one million paylines during the free spins round.

Throughout the game, players have the chance to trigger the wild megastacks whenever a symbol lands. Within the base game, up to three reels can be covered entirely in wilds, stacking to seven positions high. Additionally, in the free spins round, up to two reels can display 10 wilds each.

Furthermore, the Wheel of Fortune logo is the scatter symbol. If the player lands a minimum of three scatters they will be awarded up to 18 free spins, depending on the number of scatter symbols.

Before the free spins commence, the wheel turns to reveal the starting number of Megaways from 14,000 to 117,649. Moreover, the expansion symbol, once landed, is replaced by two new symbols, increasing the number of symbols in that reel by one.

When a reel reaches full height, the wheel spins again to award up to 12 extra free spins. If all six reels reach 10 rows high, then one million Megaways are produced.

“In partnership with Big Time Gaming, IGT PlayDigital created a spectacular online game by combining the legendary Wheel of Fortune slots brand with the Megaways game mechanic, which offers players one million ways to win in the free spins bonus.

“In a time when digital gaming growth is critical to so many IGT customers around the world, delivering unique games such as Wheel of Fortune Megaways helps our customers drive performance and differentiate their game portfolios.” – Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital senior vice president.

Wheel of Luck. Hold&Win – Tom Horn Gaming

The 3×5 slot, which invites players to experience the delights of the high life, features free spins, Hold&Win respin and the Wheel of Luck bonus round.

Land 3 or more scatters on the reels and you get to play 10 retriggerable free spins. Three or more scatters appearing during the feature award additional 10 free spins. Wheel symbols can appear during free spins and they trigger the Hold&Win Respin feature.

The feature starts when five or more bonus symbols appear on the screen. During Hold&Win Respin, only wheel and cash symbols are awarded.

Each new wheel or cash symbol gets locked in place and the respin count is reset to three. The feature ends when the respin count is zero. When the feature ends with at least three wheels on the screen, it triggers the Wheel of Luck feature. The Hold&Win Respin feature can be triggered also from free spins.

Wheel of Luck is initiated only during the Hold&Win Respin feature. Players have one chance to spin the Wheel of Luck, which has three levels. To get to another level players have to hit the arrow symbol on the wheel. The Wheel of Luck ends when the reward is a cash amount.

“We constantly look for ways to enhance our content offering. In 2021 we plan to deliver more fun and a variety of slots with thrilling features to engage and excite players in different markets. Wheel of Luck.

“Hold&Win is the first in line of many unique titles we have in the pipeline. We’re positive the game’s features, dynamic gameplay and well-known theme will resonate with players, keeping them entertained and immersed throughout the game,“ – Ondrej Lapides, CEO at Tom Horn Gaming.

When Big Time Gaming‘s latest slot, Opal Fruits, goes live exclusively with operator LeoVegas today, Kim Hultman – best known as Twitch streamer LetsGiveItASpin – will mark the launch by playing the first 100 spins.

Hultman will be streaming the spins to his 22,500-plus Twitch followers from 10pm (CEST), becoming the first to try the game’s innovative Triple Reaction mechanic.

Hultman, co-founder of CasinoGrounds.com, said: “BTG is becoming synonymous for innovation in the world of slots. This time it’s Triple Reaction together with multiplier wilds, which makes for great potential and entertainment. I can’t wait to give it a spin!”

Nik Robinson, CEO of Big Time Gaming, added: “Kim is one of the most popular online casino streamers in the world, and we are thrilled that he will be making the first spins on Opal Fruits and broadcasting the action to his army of followers.”

Opal Fruits is set in the centre of the universe where gravity rotates all of the player’s fruit around the reels with Pears, Plumbs, Melons and Purple Grapes spinning to a highly-charged digital soundtrack.

Triple Reaction enables spins and reactions in three directions with two opposite directional horizontal reels, as well as six reels that spin down the centre of the reel grid.

The game enables the unexpected and combines the feel of Big Time’s Extra Chilli and Bonanza into a less complex format with higher average symbol density.

The free games also have a twist as re-triggers are accomplished as the free games’ multiplier rises.

In April, Robinson gave CasinoBeats an exclusive on Opal Fruits – read it here

Delivering the keynote for this week’s inaugural CasinoBeats Slots Festival, Nik Robinson, CEO and founder of Big Time Gaming, reflected on a remarkable year and looked ahead to ‘an exciting 2021’.

It has been a turbulent year across the betting and gaming industry and beyond, but one also that has highlighted just how robust the online casino sector is. Something Nik Robinson, CEO and founder of slots developer Big Time Gaming, knows as well as anyone, as he told visitors to SlotFest.

“What a year it has been,” he began. “Who would have predicted back at ICE that within a month or so, we’d be in the midst of a worldwide pandemic?

“everyone has pulled together

“It’s an amazing credit to the industry to see how resilient we have been and have become, moving forward with everything that we have done this year. A lot of us have taken our staff out of the office environment, putting them at home and that it’s worked seamlessly, even more efficiently than previously – on the provider side and the casino side, everyone has pulled together.

“That’s a credit to everyone and their staff. Where we’ve needed to be responsible during this time, we have been,” he said.

“Indeed, we’ve seen responsibility come into a new light in Germany. Betting is €1 a spin maximum there and there are also deposit limits over a monthly period. I see that as only a good thing – we are seen as becoming a zero-harm industry. When we have deposit limits that strict and betting limits that low, it is very difficult to get into harm, and that will help the industry grow exponentially.

“My dream is for the industry being more entertainment led, more of Netflix-style environment rather than a hardcore casino one. Germany is an example of that. Some might say ‘it’s too strict the numbers, won’t work for everyone’, but I disagree.

“If the industry markets itself in the right way there’s no reason we can’t increase our user base. We are an entertainment business. If we take that mantra and move forward with it then the industry will survive on its merits, on doing good work,” said the man behind the Megaways slot mechanic.

“It’s been an amazing year for innovation – smaller providers punching above their weight

“It’s been an amazing year for innovation in general. Lots of smaller providers really punching above their weight and the competition is fantastic – it’s healthy. Competition creates better product, it creates a bigger user base and – as stakes and deposit limits go down – we need more users, we need more entertainment. So the more providers coming into the field, the better.”

Robinson went on to highlight some of the big movers in slots this year and outline some key milestones for Big Time Gaming in the year ahead.

Continuing CasinoBeats‘ series of updates from SlotCatalog‘s SlotRank leaderboard, which highlights the popularity of online slots based on casino lobby position, this week’s focus is on Germany and Play’n Go’s new hit The Sword and The Grail.

Last week saw The Sword and The Grail make an early climb into the SlotRank leaderboard, peaking at no.4 as the game continues to slug it out with classic names such as Play’n Go’s Book of Dead and Big Time Gaming’s Bonanza.

The positions in the SlotRank leaderboard are calculated on a daily basis by scanning the lobby positions of hundreds of online slot titles across hundreds of online casinos in a wide range of markets.

The table above has shown that despite only being released a few weeks ago, the slot has made an early entry into Germany’s top 5. The Arthurian-focused slot draws upon the legend of King Arthur, and so it will be interesting to see whether its early surge in popularity will continue in the weeks to come.

It does tend to be a feature of the SlotRank leaderboard, however, that many of the older classic games such as NetEnt’s Starburst or Bonanza tend to maintain their fixtures in casino lobbies.

Taking Bonanza as an example, one of the most recent releases in the top five – albeit still launched three years ago, back in 2016 – has consistently maintained a spot in the top five in Germany, and appears to be striking the right balance with players; so the new slot has a lot of work to do to stay in the top five.

Elsewhere in the leaderboard in Germany, NetEnt continues to dominate the pole position on the leaderboard, with its 2012 release Starburst yet to be toppled from no. 1.

Gonzo’s Quest has dropped slightly to no.5, while Pragmatic Play’s Wolf Gold has just missed out on a top-five position. Tiki Vikings from JustForTheWin has made a jump up to no.8, while Big Time Gaming’s Extra Chilli rounds off the table at no.12.

Big Time Gaming precipitated something of a sea change in the slots sector when it introduced the Megaways mechanic around five short years ago.

Now, with Megaways coupled with hit titles like Bonanza and licensed for use by a wide range of third-party game developers, Nik Robinson, BTG CEO and an igaming visionary like few others, is hoping to enjoy similar levels of success with the company’s new clusters format, Megaclusters.

So why clusters and why now? Robinson (pictured) sets the scene: “Back in 2003, I came up with the idea of having clusters that matched adjacently, exploded, cascaded in and created more and more reactions.

“That game was Chain Reactors. Since then, a number of different developers have created some incredible cluster games.

“It’s a familiar gaming genre – but how could we put a twist on it? How can we do to cluster games what we did to slot machines with Megaways?”

Megaways has of course been a runaway success for BTG and Megaclusters is consciously presented as something of a stable mate, deploying the mega-prefix and familiar gold typeface. And the similarities don’t end there – highlighted by new release Star Clusters, in which Megaclusters makes its debut.

“Because Megaclusters is complicated mathematically,” explains Robinson, “for this first release we wanted to pare it right back to something simple, specifically Star Clusters’ four-by-four grid.

“So this hybrid will appeal to both cluster and slot players”

“Very slot like, really. And there’s a reason for that. There are a lot of slot players that simply don’t play cluster games – so this hybrid, we hope, will appeal to both cluster and slot players.”

And he’s right, it does look and feel much like a slot. The familiar BTG slot environment and attention to detail helps, for sure, but slots are in this game’s DNA.

“When you get a cluster, the bigger symbols disappear and it rolls in like a slot machine,” continues Robinson. “And once the bigger symbols have been exhausted off the grid, then it drops in like a cascading game. It is genuinely a hybrid in its feel.

“It has everything a slot offers – and everything a cluster game has, too.”

As for the Megacluster mechanic itself, it starts from a symbol that appears on the screen and combines with those symbols around it and, when it does, splits into four new smaller ones. These random four smaller symbols could be any colour – or the same colour – when they hatch.

ImageThe four new symbols of the emerging Megacluster then can match with the symbols around the edge – and, if combined with a bigger symbol, will then explode into four new ones, and so on. This reaction could clear the whole grid of the bigger symbols with cascading symbols dropping in thereafter. The top pay-out of the game is a generous 23,000-times and the RTP is relatively high, at 96.54.

Like a lot of BTG games, Star Clusters is accessible to the casual player, with stakes starting at just 20p. The trade-off is that the free spins come, on average, only every 90 or 100 spins.

Those free spins are triggered by five or more simultaneous reactions. Every reaction after that gives the player another free spin – so that might mean just two extra spins, or it could lead to 20.

Another hallmark of those hit BTG slots is on show here too – the production quality is very high. For example, there’s a beat generator in the game that is synchronised with the peripheral animations. It’s an almost imperceptible detail and yet an essential part of the mix. This kind of attention to detail is everything at BTG and, as with any low-stakes BTG slot, the gameplay on Star Clusters is just as engaging and immersive as any high-stakes game.

Robinson admits to playing the game daily for “between 10 minutes and half an hour”, tweaking elements and assessing the player experience. “When it was first in beta, I was flying to Malta and had a five-hour layover in Milan,” he recalls.

“I sat down and opened my laptop and I started playing the game, as I did almost every day then. And then my name was called over the airport’s PA system: ‘Mr Robinson, you are about to miss your flight’ and five hours had just gone.”

If the players love the game half as much as the man behind it, then BTG has another mega-hit on its hands.

Star Clusters is exclusively live with SG Digital on June 24, available initially on Paddy Power, Betfair, PokerStars and SkyVegas

CasinoBeats sits down with Nik Robinson, CEO of Big Time Gaming, to discuss Monopoly Megaways, innovation and 8-bit soundtracks

Fifteen stories up, within a glazed perch high in Malta’s Intercontinental Hotel, Scottish boxer Hannah Rankin takes breakfast, nursing a swollen left eye and perhaps reflecting on her world-title fight defeat the night before to Sweden’s Patricia Berghult.

The Swede is seated at table nearby and the two exchange pleasantries. The mood among diners in the exclusive Club Lounge is cordial and relaxed, abetted by a panorama of clear autumnal skies, rooftop infinity pools and, beyond, the cobalt-blue Mediterranean, foam-tipped waves shimmering silently in the late-November sunshine.

It’s an environment within which one might expect to find professional sports women such as these. Somewhere to spot famous actors, rock stars even.

At a table along from the boxers’, sits one of online casino’s undeniable superstars. It is a mantle that doesn’t always rest easy but one Nik Robinson – CEO of Big Time Gaming and, whisper it, Mr Megaways – is having fun with.

Sitting down to breakfast with CasinoBeats, Robinson sheds some light on his activities in Malta during SiGMA week, not least an extremely warm reception from the island’s operators, which on occasion has been accompanied by a fanfare befitting a rock star.

“I got a round of applause in the offices of one operator,” he explains, with an expression placed somewhere between pride and bewilderment. In truth, the driving force behind Big Time’s many successes is humbled by the response he receives. Far from reclusive, Robinson is nonetheless a man focused on delivering the goods. Head down, grafting.

“Monopoly Megaways will go on to be the biggest slot launch in the 16-year history of SkyVegas

Based in Sydney, his forays to the northern hemisphere are comparatively few and, when they come, are packed with activity. SiGMA week is no exception.

It is a few days before another Big Time milestone, the launch of Monopoly Megaways – a title that will go on to be the biggest slot launch in the 16-year history of SkyVegas, by a magnitude of three – and Robinson is in Malta catching up with his vast network of partners and prospects.

Following an evening of streaming slots play with Kim Hultman – aka LetsGiveItASpin – and off the back of just four hours’ sleep, he welcomes CasinoBeats to the InterContinental for breakfast and to chat about the new Monopoly title.

He kicks off with characteristic enthusiasm. “You’ve got to look back at the history of Monopoly slot machines – there have been around 50 Monopoly slots since it was first licensed to IGT, before Scientific Games jumped in and made many more iterations of the game.

“Going back to around 2001, 2002 maybe, I was in the Hilton Niagara Casino and I saw my first ever Monopoly video slot – I think it was just a standard five-by-three on a terminal but there was an actual queue of people to get on this brand new game… Since that moment, my brain started working on what would make a good Monopoly game.

“So when SG had Monopoly – and as our relationship blossomed – we eventually worked on an integration of the board game with the slot machine. In the base game, you spin and two-of-kind to six-of-a-kind are the ‘dice’ and, if you get those wins, you move Mr Monopoly around the board.”

Robinson’s energy and enthusiasm is infectious and he gathers pace as he gets into the detail of the game play. And this detail, this fine print, is the end product of that process that began back in Niagara nearly two decades before.

“As you move him around the board you get to put houses down depending on how many reactions you get. When you get to the bonus you collect the rent. You collect the houses and that increases your multiplier.” The result is what Robinson calls Big Time’s ‘most important Megaways game yet’.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Megaways was important last year as it coincided with the reinvention of the brand on UK TV with [new presenter] Jeremy Clarkson. It reinvigorated the show and – as luck would have it – at that moment we brought out the new slot.”

“Monopoly is the last bastion of bringing players kicking and screaming to Megaways. It’s the ‘penny-drop factor’”

Acknowledging that a brand such as Millionaire is a gateway for introducing players to the Megaways mechanic, Robinson nonetheless considers Monopoly to be something of a definitive moment for Big Time.

“Monopoly is the last bastion of bringing players kicking and screaming to Megaways,” he says. “It’s the ‘penny-drop factor’, when someone feels they finally understand how a game works.

“With [Big Time mega-hit] Bonanza, people might not get it but they still have a bit of fun. Perhaps they’ve gone into Bonanza, had some fun and pulled away. And maybe then the same with Millionaire but now they’re drawn into Monopoly in an entirely new way. They see Mr Monopoly moving along and the penny drops. They get it and that’s really all they need to know.”

Without stopping to collect his £200 for passing GO, Robinson is off again, drawn into the excitement of the title that clearly took over his life for a period. “So, players move round the board and, as they do, they get wins, get multipliers and lay down houses, picking up chance cards and so on.

“They pick up the stations, for example, and each station in the base game gives them another free spin and if you get all four stations, when you land in the feature, you get four free spins. Water Works boosts the multiplier by two or three.”

This is the key to Monopoly Megaways. As Apple said in the initial marketing campaigns for the iPad, “you already know how to use it”. And this is true of Monopoly. The world knows the game – it doesn’t need to be explained.

“It’s inherent in what we all know about Monopoly already – and that will drive the other 30 to 40 per cent of players who didn’t get Megaways into Megaways, via Monopoly,” explains Robinson.

“We wanted to target adults that remembered That dusty old box that comes out once a year”

“And we’re launching it as Christmas for a reason. Monopoly is Christmas, its Boxing Day. Hasbro said they wanted us to use the modern board but we went for the classic 70s/80s layout – we wanted to target adults that remembered the brand and that dusty old box that comes out once a year.”

The Big Time output, through Danger High Voltage, Final Countdown, Opal Fruits and many more – down to the soda bottle-top roundel that is the company logo – is rich with nostalgia and cultural cues. This comes from deep within Robinson’s mind and memory, from afternoons in the arcade playing Defender and Robotron, to late nights in his office studio working samples into the fabric of the games.

“Audio, for me, is hugely important,” he explains, in almost hushed tones. “Our big-win music sounds terrible but it took a long time to make it sound that bad! I started with a version of Ode to Joy and then took it to my team they said ‘No’. A few days later – once it was 8-bit and jingly, like something from a 1980s’ Casio keyboard – we had it right.”

These motifs, both audio and visual, are the hallmarks of a Big Time Gaming product. “It is essential for our business that you can tell these are Big Time products,” says Robinson. “Someone will say ‘It looks like they did it on a Commodore 64’ – and that’s the whole point! To take Millionaire and Monopoly and make them into a Big Time product, it’s a really hidden art. It’s something people don’t really get.

“There was a post on CasinoMeister the other day ‘Why don’t you update your look and feel, your games all look the same!’. Our response to that is that it really misses the point. It’s a brand thing.”

This is the fine balance at the heart of the Big Time proposition. A company that backs itself in creative terms, trusting Robinson’s instincts and mining the cultural touchstones with which players identify, while at the same time producing cutting-edge game experiences.

It might seem to some that Big Time is among just a handful of companies that are genuinely taking the sector forwards in term of product innovation. “We’re leading by default because we set about anything we do to innovate,” says Robinson.

“[Amazon founder] Jeff Bezos said ‘You’re only as good as what you were doing two-to-three years ago’. What were we doing three years ago? We were launching Bonanza.

“Once we launched Bonanza we didn’t sit back, we pushed it further. What we have now – Megaways – is an evolution of slot machines. Three-reel, then five-reel, now Megaways. It could be the slot machine for the next 50 years.”

It’s nearly time to go. Robinson has another appointment and breakfast is over. The Club Lounge is emptying, just the staff remain. Even the boxers have been counted out.

Robinson is preparing a parting shot, before the metaphorical bell rings. “I was showing an early iteration of Monopoly to the streamers we know – playing it on my phone, huddled round a restaurant table in Amsterdam – and they had nothing to add.

“That’s when you know you’re onto something.”

Benedict McDonagh, Managing Director at Wizard Games, stated: “The festive season is fast approaching, and what better way to prepare for Christmas than visiting Santa’s winter wonderland? That’s what players can look forward to with Santa Bonanza.

“With chances to unwrap wild multipliers in the base game, alongside a fun-filled bonus round where extra free spins and multipliers await, we’re looking forward to immersing players in a jolly good time alongside Father Christmas himself.”

Christmas tree scatters are available on reels one, three and five, activating the free spins feature when three land on the same spin.

Before the free spins game mode begins, the pick-and-click feature sees players select from nine different Christmas presents with hidden prizes behind them.

These presents can offer extra spins or increased multiplier values for the wilds that appear in the bonus game, while the feature ends when the player reveals a Santa that waves goodbye, taking players to the free spins with all awarded enhancements.

Additionally, Santa wilds can drop into play, substituting for all symbols other than the Christmas tree scatters. Throughout the game, these wilds can appear with multipliers to be applied to any wins that the wilds contribute to.

Sanctuary – Big Time Gaming

Big Time Gaming has uncovered ancient Egyptian treasures in its latest release, presenting a six-reel slot with 4,096 ways to win and a maximum win of up to x44,070 the player’s wager. The game has high volatility with an RTP of 96.38 per cent.

Nik Robinson, BTG CEO, stated: “The team has created something very, very cool with Sanctuary, with its towering pyramids and mesmerising hieroglyphs that can transport the player into new dimensions. The first time I saw the free spins mode, with four video slots fired up simultaneously, it was a case of: mind blown.”

Pyramid scatters are available, triggering seven free spins if three or more land on the same spin.

Additionally, two full reel wilds are available, with gold Pharoah wilds and purple Pharoah wilds appearing on reels two to five.

While both wilds substitute for all symbols in the game other than the pyramid scatters, all wins contributed to by the purple wilds will multiply the winnings by x8.

When triggering the free spins feature, landing three, four, five or six scatters will activate the bonus game mode with one, two, three or four matrices working at once, respectively.

During the free spins, Ankh wild symbols can drop into play on reels two through five. These wilds will become sticky in their place when they appear on the reels.

Four Ankh wilds in the same column will transform the symbols into an expanded wild that multiplies all wins by x4 while awarding three extra spins upon transformation.

If players wish to receive more free spins than they have been awarded, they can select a gamble wheel feature to win more spins or more spins on multiple matrices. If players spin the wheel to reveal no spins, they will return to the base game empty-handed.

Nicholas Peters, Chief Business Development Officer for Europe at Evolution, added: “You can never accuse BTG of being one-dimensional, and there’s so much going on in Sanctuary.

“It’s literally multi-dimensional! We love the game, we love the features, and we love the soundtrack, and that’s why we believe this is one of the most exciting releases of the year.”

Munition Mine – Powderkeg Studios

Travel down the mines with Powderkeg Studios as the Supremeland Gaming subsidiary launched its latest game, a five-reel slot with a row set up of 3-4-4-4-3, 576 ways to win and a maximum win of up to x10,000 the player’s bet. The slot is highly volatile with an RTP of 88.25-96.49 per cent.

Peter Wasielewski, Studio Director at Powderkeg Studios, stated: “For us, it’s all about the potential of the gaming market and what kind of unique experiences we can craft that are both fun and exciting.

“Munition Mine is all about potential, especially in its namesake feature. Every symbol during the hold and spin has the chance to yield up to x500 for the player, making each foray uniquely thrilling and always evolving.”

Stone vein symbols can drop into play, hiding gold multiplied bet amount prizes behind them. These prizes can only be revealed if special dynamite barrels appear on the same spin, triggering the Munition Mine feature.

In the Munition Mine feature, the barrels will explode causing the reels to become empty with only revealed stone symbols and barrels able to drop into play.

When triggering the game mode, the barrel will reveal the value hidden by the stone symbols that appeared alongside it, which always begin at x1.

As the feature begins, players are given three spins as barrels and stone symbols become sticky when they drop into play while also resetting the number of spins to three.

When barrels appear next to gold prizes in the Munition Mine feature, it will upgrade its prize value, with prizes of up to x500 the player’s bet available.

Throughout the free spins game mode triggered by chest scatters, the Munition Mine feature can be activated. When this occurs, the feature will play out instantly before the remainder of the free spins are completed.

“This is the very first step on an exciting journey we are undertaking with Powderkeg Studios to deliver mischievous, innovative, and really fun-to-play online games,” said Rickard Öhrn, CEO of Supremeland Gaming.

“We’ll be taking this creative, disruptive ethos to the regulated US igaming market in 2024, but for now, we’re excited to see our games being enjoyed across Europe”.

Sherwood Forest – Playson

The next slot in our selection takes place in Nottinghamshire during medieval times to tell the classic tale of Robin Hood, using a 5×4 reel slot with 25-paylines and a maximum win of up to x3,000 the player’s bet.

Tamas Kusztos, CCO at Playson, said: “We are excited to launch Sherwood Coins, the next instalment in our Hold and Win series, following on from the success of Wolf Land and Pirate Chest, as we look to continue a strong Q4 and finish the year in style.

“The variety of different features and symbols should ensure the game is another strong addition to our catalogue.”

Gold coin symbols are also available, displaying either monetary values between x1 and x15 the player’s bet or jackpot prizes of mini (x20), minor (x50) or major (x100).

Also, gold coins can appear with ‘boost’ text. These special symbols will collect all coin values present on the reels and apply them to the player’s winnings.

Landing six or more coin symbols on the same spin will activate the hold and win game mode.

In this hold-and-win game mode, players are given three spins to land as many coin symbols on a reel set as possible. Each additional symbol that drops into play will reset the number of spins to three.

Once all three spins have been used, the player will receive the accumulated value of all coin symbols on the reels, in addition to any jackpot prize coins that have dropped in.

Players can win the game’s maximum win of x3,000, the grand jackpot prize, if they manage to land a full reel set of coin symbols during the bonus game mode.

Moreover, mystery wanted poster symbols can only appear in the hold-and-win game mode, revealing either monetary values or jackpot prizes once the feature finishes. However, if a boost symbol is active on the board, the mystery symbol will be revealed immediately.

Anton Ivannikov, Product Owner at Playson, added: “We’re really excited to show our players how hard we’ve worked on the visual aesthetics in Sherwood Coins.

“The game’s charming soundtrack and colourful background provides immersive surroundings, taking players on a journey for uncovered treasure in the renowned woodland. Alongside the inclusion of the boost and treasure chest features, we have demonstrated our commitment to providing creative gaming experiences for our players.”

Templar Tumble Dream Drop – Relax Gaming

Our final slot title sees the return of Relax Gaming’s Dream Drop jackpot, implemented into one of the studio’s established Tumble titles, offering a 6×7 reel title with up to 117,649 ways to win. The slot is highly volatile with an RTP of 94 per cent.

Shelley Hannah, CPO at Relax Gaming, stated: “We have an unwavering commitment to developing games that players truly enjoy, and we know for a fact that our Tumble games have been hugely popular amongst our player base for a very long time.

“What better way to honour the original Templar Tumble game than with a highly anticipated Dream Drop release that can see players win incredible rewards thanks to our market-leading jackpot prizes.”

Using Relax Gaming’s Tumble mechanic, each time a winning combination is formed the winning symbols will explode and disappear from the reels, allowing new symbols to cascade from the top of the board.

Winning combinations will also cause blocker symbols to explode and disappear, removing an equal number of blocker symbols from the number of symbols involved in the win. These blocker symbols can only be removed from the reels in which the win was formed.

When all blocker symbols are destroyed, the free spins feature will be activated. During these free spins, no blocker symbols will appear as the reels are filled with standard symbols or wilds.

Wilds that appear in the free spins will cause random standard symbols to transform into mystery symbols, as no blocker symbols are available.

Furthermore, jackpot spins can occur with Dream Drop (DD) symbols able to drop into play on an empty reel set. Landing five DD symbols on this spin will activate the jackpot game mode.

As the jackpot feature is triggered, players must spin a special jackpot reel set while various symbols depicting the five jackpot prizes drop into play.

Once players have collected a certain number of jackpot symbols, they will receive that jackpot’s respective prize. Players only need to land three rapid or midi symbols to gain their respective prize, while needing four, five and six maxi, major and mega symbols respectively.

With October now well underway, sit back and relax as we guide you through a selection of the industry’s latest slot releases. This week’s round up includes a boxing bout from AvatarUX, Yggdrasil’s animal diner, and an East Asian samurai showdown from Bulletproof Games

Donkey & the GOATS – AvatarUX

Step into the ring as AvatarUX hosts a night of fights in its latest 6×4 reel slot that offers 117,649-ways to win and a maximum win of x20,000 the player’s bet. While using an additional top horizontal reel, the game has an RTP of 96 per cent.

Nicola Longmuir, CEO at AvatarUX, commented: “With Donkey & the GOATS we introduce something different to players with the unique feature set offering unparalleled wins and thrill.

“With the success of our PopWins mechanic, we are now excited to rollout a new type of game, jam-packed with features and win potential, that showcases the innovation and diversity that AvatarUX can offer.”

Throughout the game, the studio’s ZapReel mechanic causes a top horizontal reel to sit above the base game grid. This ZapReel adds an extra symbol to each reel and can present special uppercut symbols that cause full reels of wilds to appear beneath them when activated by a payline win.

Cascading wins also occur throughout the game, with winning symbols disappearing after providing their payout to make way for new symbols that drop in and increase the win potential.

When cascading wins occur with winning symbols appearing on the top ZapReel, these symbols will disappear and the other ZapReel symbols will cascade from right to left.

Additionally, the game has a Vegas Reel feature which presents a new multiplier on every spin. If three cascading wins occur on a single spin, these multipliers will become active and apply themselves to all wins that have occurred on that spin.

When donkey symbols drop into play, they will award one of three features; synced reels, wild bombs or low-value symbol removals.

Each of these features will also come with a number between one and three, representing the number of subsequent spins that these features will occur on.

When active, synced reels will cause two or more reels to reveal the same set up of identical symbols, wild bombs will place a random spread of wilds across the board and low-value removals will take all low-value symbols out of play.

During the free spins feature, the Vegas Reel cascading wins counter will not reset in between spins. This creates a higher chance of gaining multiplied wins.

Fatz’s Diner GigaBlox – Yggdrasil

Yggdrasil has released another GigaBlox title to place giant symbols on the reels in its latest title, a 5×5 reel slot with 40-paylines and a maximum win of x9,052 the player’s bet. This slot has high volatility with an RTP of 96 per cent.

Mark McGinley, Chief Gaming Officer at Yggdrasil, stated: “If you’re hungry for the prosperous age of 1950s America then I urge you to head down to Fatz’s Diner where you’ll find a thrill a minute.

“We have built a strong name for ourselves on the back of our legendary GEMs, and GigaBlox is a firm favourite amongst fans. We’re expecting plenty of diners to flock to Fatz’s to enjoy the supersized symbols, expanding reels and Free Spins that are on the menu.”

As a GigaBlox slot, each spin will see between two and five reels merge together to allow giant symbols to drop into play, with sizes of 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5 available. Every symbol other than the purple arrows can appear as a GigaBlox symbol.

When purple arrows appear, they will trigger the respin and expand feature. This provides players with one free respin while the GigaBlox reels increase in size, extending towards the direction of the arrow symbol.

Multiple arrows can appear on the same spin, causing the reels to expand further. Additionally, purple arrows can drop into play on the free respin, causing the feature to retrigger.

In the free spins game mode, each purple arrow that appears will be collected into a meter beside the reel set. Once three purple arrows are collected, GigaBlox symbols can no longer appear in sizes of 2×2, as they reach a minimum size of 3×3.

Collecting six and then nine arrows in the same free spins feature will allow for minimum GigaBlox sizes of 4×4 and 5×5 respectively.

Meanwhile, the highest-paying symbol – the hippo – will gain a multiplier of x3 to be applied to all wins that they contribute to. For every three hippo wins that occur in the same feature, the hippo multiplier will increase by x3.

Lotus Warrior – Bulletproof Games

Three different free spins game modes are on offer in Bulletproof Games’ latest collaborative slot title with Yggdrasil. This samurai sword-swinging slot uses a 5×4 reel grid that has 25-paylines and a maximum win of x2,542, while being medium-highly volatile with an RTP of 96 per cent.

Michael Bullock, Product Director at Bulletproof Games, commented: “Lotus Warrior is a game designed specifically for those thrill seekers that enjoy the rush of immersive bonus features. We hope players enjoy this slot as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Each time a wild symbol drops into play, it can expand to cover entire reels to increase the win potential.

When three scatter symbols drop into play, the Sakura Spins game mode will be activated. This provides players with five spins and each spin guarantees a greater payout than the last, as the previously won stake will act as a base prize value for the next spin.

Players can also spin the reels to reveal ‘extra’ text on the grid, which will award an additional five spins.

If four scatters drop into play at the same time, the Shinobi Spins feature is triggered. This performs a hold and win-style game mode for every medium and high value symbol individually, as well as the bonus scatter.

For each symbol, an empty reel set will spin and each symbol that appears will lock into place. A new spin will be awarded each time a symbol locks into place, with each individual feature ending once no symbols drop in on a spin.

Once an individual symbol feature ends, any potential payline wins formed by the sticky symbols will be paid out. Collecting a certain number of symbols on the same lock and spin feature will result in multipliers being provided for the payline wins.

This feature occurs for every medium and high value symbol before performing it for the scatter. This final feature will give players the chance to activate another free spins feature.

Next up, landing five scatters on the same spin will take players to the Samurai Spins feature, which uses a progressive multiplier that increases with every win.

Each wild that appears during these spins will be collected into a pot for an enhanced final spin which places all collected wilds back onto the screen.

Mark McGinley, Chief Gaming Officer at Yggdrasil, stated: “If you’re a fan of deep and immersive games with rich bonus features then Lotus Warrior is a game that will tick all of your boxes.

“Once again it’s been a great pleasure working alongside the talented team at Bulletproof Games and this new title showcases the true benefits of working collaboratively on new releases.”

Catch the Win – Evoplay

Shiver me timbers! Evoplay has set sail with its latest pirate-themed slot release, which showcases a 5×3 reel slot with 20-paylines and a maximum win of x3,799. This swashbuckling slot release has an RTP of 96.1 per cent with medium-high volatility.

Ivan Kravchuk, CEO at Evoplay, explained: “Immersing players among treacherous seas, our latest release Catch the Wind helps to uncover hidden treasures and enter unmapped territories through the inclusion of captain ship wilds.

“With a thrilling free spins game where multipliers increase incrementally as they travel across the board, we’re confident that our latest release will go down a storm with players.

“The game comes also in the bonus buy version which allows users to purchase free spins directly, offering solutions to our partners that cater to diverse gamer preferences.”

Low value symbols come in the form of gems with blue triangles, cyan diamonds, green squares, purple pentagons and red hexagons. If the right number of paying combinations land on a single spin, these symbols can offer between x0.2 and x2 the player’s bet.

Meanwhile, compasses, telescopes, anchors and steering wheels depict the medium value symbols, offering between x1 and x30 the player’s stake.

High value symbols are represented by a pirate captain, which can provide wins between x2 and x70 the player’s preferred bet.

Pirate ship symbols can also appear, acting as wilds and as scatters. As wilds, these ships will substitute for all symbols in the game while offering a payout of x70 if five wilds land in a winning combination.

Each pirate ship wild will also present a multiplier of either x1, x2 or x3 to be applied to any wins that they contribute to.

As scatters, landing three, four or five pirate ship symbols on the same spin will provide eight, 10 or 12 free spins respectively.

With the free spins game mode, each pirate ship that appears will start with a multiplier of x1 as they stay on the board for multiple spins, moving one space to the left with each free spin that occurs. Each space the ships move, their multipliers will increase by a value of one.

More Turkey Megaways – Big Time Gaming

Although thanksgiving may be well over a month away, BTG has gained a step ahead of the crowd with this turkey-themed title. The slot has six reels with between two and seven rows, offering 117,649-ways to win. This game is highly volatile with an RTP of 96.3 per cent.

Nik Robinson, BTG CEO, stated: “BTG isn’t known for producing turkeys, but we’ll make an exception here. We’ve recently launched our games in the North American markets, so it felt fitting to make a game that celebrates Thanksgiving.

“We want to thank our North American audience for really connecting with our games. We think you’re going to love this one no matter where you are.”

As a Megaways title, an additional top horizontal reel sits above the grid, awarding an additional symbol for rows two, three, four and five.

Cascading wins also occur, causing winning symbols to disappear after providing their payouts. This increases the win potential by making way for new symbols to drop into their place.

Golden-cooked turkey scatters are also available, triggering eight three spins if three land on the same spin. Each scatter above three that lands to trigger the feature will award an additional four free spins.

When activating the free spins game mode, players can gamble the number of spins they received in order to gain more.

Players perform this gamble by spinning a wheel and hoping that it lands in a green section, which will award additional spins. Losing the gamble will send players to the base game empty-handed.

Furthermore, the free spins feature starts with a win multiplier of x1 that increases by a value of one with every winning combination that is formed.

Another week has flown by so sit back and relax as we guide you through some of the slot industry’s latest releases. This week’s selection includes Stakelogic’s Viking fishing trip, a secret service sequel from Big Time Gaming, Tom Horn Gaming’s Arabian adventure and more.

Eric’s Big Catch – Stakelogic

Stakelogic has taken a detour on the journey to Valhalla, taking players on a fishing trip with a 5×3 reel slot that offers 20-paylines and a maximum win of up to x4,000 the player’s wager. The game has high volatility with an RTP of 95.99 per cent.

Andrew Fraser, Product Owner at Stakelogic, commented: “Fishing-themed slots are a big hit with players, and we can’t wait for players to head out onto the waters with Eric and his box of bonus features.

“Eric’s Big Catch is the perfect combination of fishing-themed bonuses, winning potential, and innovative gameplay. It is a fantastic addition to our growing portfolio of online slot games, and we can’t wait to see how players react to it.”

Fish symbols can appear, displaying monetary values between x0.5 and x12 the player’s wager. These fish values can be won in the free spins game mode, but in the base game, players can form payline wins of x1, x5 or x20 if three, four or five fish symbols land in a winning formation respectively.

Goldfish scatters are also available, respectively triggering six, eight or 10 free spins if three, four or five land on a single base game spin.

Additionally, wild Vikings can drop into play in the free spins game mode. These wilds will collect all fish values present on the same spin, before awarding a respin as it travels one space to its left.

These free respins will continue to be awarded until the Viking moves off of the left side of the board.

As wilds, these Viking symbols will also substitute for all symbols in the game other than the goldfish scatters. Meanwhile, landing three, four or five wilds in a winning combination will award instant payouts of x5, x20 or x200 respectively.

In the free spins game mode, Viking wilds collect all fish values that drop into play, adding them to a basket above the reel set. For each spin that the Viking symbols collect fish on, a multiplier will be added next to the basket.

Once the Viking respin feature finishes, players will be awarded the accumulated value of all fish symbols that were collected in the basket, which will then be enhanced by the available multiplier.

Max Megaways 2 – Big Time Gaming

Big Time Gaming has taken one of its flagship slot titles to extraterrestrial levels with its latest space-themed slot sequel, which uses a six-reel board with between two and seven rows available, alongside 117,649-ways to win. This game has an RTP of 96.65 per cent.

Nik Robinson, BTG CEO, said: “We love the Max Megaways character, and he was a big hit with gamers too, which is why we just had to resurrect him for a brand-new adventure. We wanted to give this the feel of a real summer action blockbuster, which is why we jam-packed it full of cool features and catapulted it into space. What’s not to love?”

As with most Megaways titles, an additional horizontal top reel sits above reels two, three, four and five, adding an extra symbol for each of these reels.

Cascading wins occur throughout the game, causing winning symbols to disappear after providing their payouts, making way for new symbols to drop in and increase the win potential.

Each cascading win that occurs can also randomly activate one of four special features, with seven guaranteed rows, multiplier wilds of up to x10, a full top reel of wilds and symbols upgrading to wilds available.

When the free spins feature begins, players must choose two out of five doors that contain hidden bonus game enhancements. If the player activates the enhanced free spins game mode, they will have three picks rather than two.

Bonus game enhancements include a win multiplier boost starting at x6, chosen symbols upgrading to wilds, the win multiplier increasing by x2 with each cascade, two scatters causing the free spins to be retriggered or a minimum of five symbols on each reel.

Nicholas Peters, Chief Business Development Officer, Europe at Evolution, added: “The original Max Megaways was a runaway success with our players, so we were delighted to hear that a sequel was in the works.

“Sequels are sometimes disappointing for fans of the original but not in this case. BTG’s secret agent makes an electrifying comeback and is quickly becoming one of the greatest slot characters of all time.”

Book of Aladdin – Tom Horn Gaming

Tom Horn Gaming has taken players on a magic carpet ride with its latest Arabian Nights-themed slot title, showcasing a 5×3 reel slot with nine-paylines. The slot has high volatility with an RTP of 95.97 per cent.

“We continue in our mission to deliver the industry’s freshest content and top hits. Book of Aladdin is no different. With its generous shatter mode, contagious free spins and immersive story, this game will definitely sit high on the players’ bucket list, “ said Ondrej Lapides, CEO at Tom Horn Gaming.

Low value symbols come in the form of the high end of a deck of cards, from 10 through to Ace. These symbols can offer between x0.5 and x15 the player’s bet, depending on the number of winning combinations that fall on one go.

Meanwhile, four Aladdin characters with colours of green, blue, gold and red depict the high value symbols, offering between x0.5 and x500 the player’s wager.

Book scatters are available, triggering 10 free spins if three land on the same spin. These book symbols also work as wilds, substituting for all other symbols in the game.

Throughout the game, shatter wins occur, removing winning symbols from play after they’ve awarded their payout. This causes new symbols to drop in and increase the win potential.

Each shatter win that occurs will increase a multiplier below the reel set, which can increase from x1 to x2, x3 and x4, with the multipliers applying to each subsequent shatter win that occurs on the same spin.

In the free spins game mode, one paytable symbol is chosen at random. This symbol will become enhanced, expanding across the reels to boost the player’s chance of achieving winning payouts.

Beast Band – BGaming

Inviting players to a rock and roll concert like no other, BGaming’s new releases sees a band of zoo animal rock stars roam the 5×3 reel set, which offers 25-paylines and a maximum win of up to x1,000. This game has an RTP of 96.83 per cent with medium-high volatility.

Yulia Aliakseeva, Co-CPO at BGaming, said: “Creativity is what makes BGaming’s portfolio stand out and we know players love the catchy music and fun characters that feature in our games. This is why we heavily invested in both for Beast Band – and look forward to offering an atmospheric experience.

“Just like a concert crowd, our players cheer on our continued success and we can’t wait to reward them with brilliant content for many years to come.”

Landing six gold records on the same spin will trigger the respin bonus. In this game mode, players are taken to an empty reel set where only the triggering record symbols are present on the reels.

Players are then given three spins to land as many gold records on the board as possible, with each symbol that drops in resetting the number of spins to three.

Gold records can land with values between x1 and x20 the player’s stake, and the player will receive the accumulated value of all records available once the three spins have been played out.

If players manage to fill a row or reel with gold records, a multiplier will appear to enhance the gold record values on that filled row/reel. These multipliers can be between x2 and x100.

Additionally, players will win the game’s mega jackpot prize of x1,000 if the board is completely filled with record symbols.

Moreover, during the free spins game mode, all low value playing card symbols will be removed from play.

Story of Gaia – Spinomenal

Spinomenal’s latest slot release takes place in an enchanted forest where woodlands critters can provide enhanced wins. This game is a 5×4 reel slot with 20-paylines and a five-of-a-kind wild win of x3,000 the player’s bet.

Low value symbols are depicted as playing card royals, with Jack through to Ace. If the right number of matching combinations land on a single spin, these symbols can offer between x1 and x4 the player’s bet.

Sparrows, squirrels, rabbits and deer represent the high value symbols, offering between x2 and x100 the player’s preferred stake.

Wild female character Gaia symbols can also appear, substituting for all symbols other than the free spins scatter. Landing five wilds in a winning combination will provide x3,000 the player’s stake.

Additionally, free spins text scatters can appear, triggering 10, 25 or 50 free spins if three, four or five scatters land on the same spin respectively.

In the free spins game mode, a stacked wild is guaranteed to land on every spin, appearing in 1×3 sizes and shifting across the reels to increase the bonus game mode’s win potential.
