As a number of new igaming titles grace the CasinoBeats inbox, sit back and get to grips with a select few new slot games in one handy bite-size chunk.

Lord Merlin & The Lady of the Lake – Play’n Go

The 5×3, 10-payline video slot that focuses on an earlier time in the great wizard Merlin’s life, specifically the start of his relationship with Vivian, the Lady of the Lake, and includes Excalibur spins along with a wild scatter symbol and gamble mode.

During the base game of the follow-up to 2019’s Rise of Merlin, the chosen expanding symbol can form winning combinations across non-adjacent reels. If the high value symbol is selected at least two of those symbols land and expand. Furthermore, if the royal symbol is selected at least three of them will land on and expand.

Once the player activates the free spins round, the scatter will transform into a wild scatter symbol. This acts like a Wild and substitutes for all symbols.

Moreover, in the free spins feature, when two or more wild scatters land it will trigger the Excalibur spins. Each wild scatter awards an additional Excalibur spin. The chosen special Expanding symbol locks in and can expand on all Excalibur spins.

The game also features an optional gamble round that provides an opportunity to multiply the total prize on any spin in the main game by correctly guessing the colour or suit of a hidden card. The gamble round can be played up to five times in a row.

“Our ‘families’ link games together under a recognisable umbrella; players see this and know that they are going to get the same great entertainment as a game they have enjoyed previously.

“However, familiarity alone will not keep players engaged; each game has to bring something different to the table, otherwise what’s the point?” – Martin Zettergren, Play’n Go CPO.

Cosmic Voyager – Thunderkick

Cosmic Voyager, which invites players on a galactic adventure, is a five-reel, 10-payline video slot that features an expanding symbol and bonus game with free spins.

If the player lands three stacked symbols on the first reel it will trigger the expanding symbols feature. During this mode, any symbol identical to the stacked will become an expanding symbol growing to cover the entire reel it lands on.

Furthermore, if three or more cosmic voyager symbols land during the base game, it will trigger the bonus game, awarding 10 free spins, depending on the amount of symbols that land, with players gaining an additional 10 spin if they land another three voyager symbols during the round.

Star Settler – BF Games

Continuing on the same theme, BF Games has globally launched Star Settler following a three-month exclusivity period with Kindred Group.

The title vows to take players on an intergalactic journey, with the reels featuring all the cosmic symbols one could expect such as planets astronauts, spaceships, probes, artefacts, and meteors.

The 5-reel, 3-row video slot strives to increase engagement levels via a number of features which include expanding hot and cold wilds, free spins and a bonus round where players can pick a win multiplier of up to x50 from six hidden options.

The game is certified in numerous jurisdictions and is immediately available to operators in the UK, Romania and under an MGA licence.

“Star Settler is a thrilling feature-packed title that is sure to have players coming back for more. The game has already proven successful with Kindred’s customers and we are excited about this global launch and offering even more players astronomical entertainment coupled with meteoric win opportunity.” – Piotr Szpoton, CEO at BF Games.

Captain Venture: Treasures of the Sea – Greentube

Captain Venture: Treasures of the Sea is a five-reel video slot with 10-paylines, with the title hyped as encapsulating ‘more features’, ‘more action’ and ‘more treasure’ as compared to the original.

The game comes with a feature titled sea change. After a spin, the reels may sink into the sea and rise again with different symbols, and any new spin that appears are paid.

The anchor drop re-spins feature may occur during an anchor symbol win. Once this happens, some reels then re-spin. The wild symbol does not replace the anchor symbol during this feature.

Additionally, chest symbol wins may add extra gem symbols to the reels during the treasure chest bounty.

During a spin, the treasure map may appear. If this happens, the captain venture symbol triggers the X marks the slot re-spins feature. Within this round, the captain venture symbol will float around the reels and highlight positions. These will add to the overall multiplier.

If the player lands three or more scatter symbols, the mystery multiplier free spins is awarded. After each spin, the wheel will apply a win multiplier and all wins are added.

Annamaria Anastasi, marketing director at Betsoft Gaming, stated: “Gold Canyon is a classic slot, packed full of unique Betsoft features, bonus rounds and free spins that players are sure to love and keep coming back to.”

SlotBeats has been delivering presents along with Santa Claus this week by awarding Greentube a Slot of the Week award for its latest snowy slot release, Diamond Link: Mighty Santa Boarded Up

With players hoping to activate an array of festive features, Diamond Link: Mighty Santa Boarded Up offers a 5×3 reel slot with 25-paylines and a grand jackpot prize worth over x1,000 the player’s bet. The title has medium-high volatility with a 95% RTP.

Bernd Baumert, Director of Games Production and Operations at Greentube, commented: “Diamond Link: Mighty Santa Boarded Up is the perfect festive addition to our portfolio, delivering an immersive and innovative experience with Christmas-themed mechanics and a visually innovative game board.

“We’re excited to bring this seasonal title to players looking to enjoy some Christmas magic while chasing big wins.”

Diamonds can also land on the reels, awarding the Diamond Link feature when six or more appear on the same spin. These diamonds will present monetary prize values that can be claimed in this bonus game mode.

In the Diamond Link feature, players are given three spins to land as many diamonds on an empty reel set as possible. Each diamond that lands on the reels will reset the number of spins to three.

The game mode also features a board game mechanic. Players roll Santa’s dice to move him around the board, landing on fields that trigger spin bonuses, countdowns, multipliers, and other modifiers.

These modifiers include spin fields which award one free spin where the diamonds remain sticky, watch fields which sees the Christmas countdown randomly determine whether the feature continues or ends, special fields that trigger add, multiplier or collect features, and diamond fields that double all diamond values on the board.

Additionally, jackpot diamonds can appear in this feature, awarding one of three jackpot prizes of mini (x10), minor (x50) or major (progressive jackpot of at least x200).

Landing a full board of 15 diamonds will award the game’s grand jackpot prize, which is a progressive prize that will offer a minimum of x1,000.

Finally, wild money bags can drop into play, substituting for all symbols other than diamonds.

Greentube has taken on “an exciting new venture” through the launch of its “high-energy” Tapper Games series.

Described as a “dynamic new style of content”, Greentube has unveiled its first Tapper Games title as Piñata Blast is set to be added to the Novomatic studio’s content portfolio imminently.

Greentube also pulled back the curtain on its second Tapper Games release, presenting Hit Me Baby! to delegates at G2E earlier this month.

The series will play into evolving player preferences by offering quick gameplay using “simplified animations and responsive features”.

Bernd Baumert, Director of Games Production and Operations at Greentube, commented: “Tapper Games is an exciting new venture for us, as we continue to diversify our portfolio and cater to the evolving preferences of players.

“With Piñata Blast and a diverse range of upcoming titles, we are opening the door to a new category of fast-paced games, designed to entertain and engage players in a fresh way.

“We believe that this type of content will be a key driver in attracting new audiences and further expanding our reach in regulated markets globally.”

The studio also outlined an aim for these titles to have particular appeal in the US market, where it recently expanded its presence through a tri-state deal with FanDuel

Marek Candrak, Engineering Manager & Head of R&D Center at Greentube, chats to CasinoBeats about the firm’s new NOVA gaming platform and its key capabilities. Candrak also delves into the product research and development phase and why Greentube’s facility in Slovakia is the perfect platform for such innovations.

CasinoBeats: Tell us a little bit about NOVA and why Greentube is moving into the B2C space with this platform.

Marek Candrak: NOVA is our vision for a comprehensive gaming platform. It integrates services such as online casino, sports betting and virtual lottery terminals and serves as a digital playground for both players and operators. Our mission at Greentube is about providing the highest quality flexible technology to regulated markets, and NOVA is a part of that plan.

One of the key things about NOVA is that it’s incredibly user-friendly. Designed to offer the user ease of operation, it easily keeps track of everything from player behaviour to game performance.

We’ve designed a platform that’s not only powerful but also agile and adaptable. We’re working closely with everyone involved to make sure it meets all needs, so whether it’s players looking for an engaging gaming experience or operators searching for a streamlined and intuitive way to run their business, NOVA is ready to meet those requirements.

CB: What are the key features of NOVA and what makes it stand out amongst the crowd?

MC: NOVA offers a range of features designed to make gaming more enjoyable for players and easier to manage for operators. It integrates various gaming services into a single platform, making it easy to manage both land-based and online gaming operations.

It provides real-time monitoring and accounting tools, detailed game statistics, and ensures compliance with regulations in different markets, so it really is designed to meet the needs of today’s operators in a busy, challenging environment.

Built using the very latest technology, NOVA is a reliable and flexible solution for gaming operators looking to improve their offerings and efficiency.

CB: The Nova platform is noted for being modular. How important is it to offer such flexibility?

MC: The modular nature of the NOVA platform is a key advantage. As businesses expand, they can easily add new features without interrupting their current operations. This flexibility allows operators to quickly adapt to market changes and introduce new services. Updates and upgrades are also simplified, ensuring that the platform remains up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.

Maintenance and troubleshooting become more efficient with a modular system, as problems can be isolated to specific components. This results in less downtime and a better overall gaming experience for players.

NOVA’s modularity is a vital component in making it a valuable tool for gaming operators seeking to stay competitive and responsive.

CB: NOVA was developed by Greentube’s R&D centre in Slovakia. Tell us about the centre and why Slovakia in particular is an ideal place for such a centre.

MC: While NOVA was born in our R&D centre in Slovakia, we actually had teams from all over working on it, and it was quite the challenge since we needed to keep our existing system running smoothly while also building the new one – rather like replacing a car’s engine while still driving it! We gradually swapped out parts of the old system with new, smaller ones, making sure our customers didn’t notice a thing.

Our R&D HQ in Bratislava is the perfect place for this kind of innovation. It’s right in the heart of Europe, so we have great connections with other tech hubs. Slovakia is also blessed with a fantastic pool of IT talent, which is exactly what we need to create cutting-edge products like NOVA.

CB: Building out must take a lot of collaboration across different teams – how does Greentube work across different teams and locations to bring such projects to life?

MC: Building complex projects at Greentube is a team effort, involving the creative genius from each corner of the company. To keep things organised and efficient, we use a Scrum process, helping us break down big projects into smaller steps, making them easier to manage.

We have teams with diverse skill sets, and we meet regularly to talk about what we’ve done and what is up next. We also have a plan for the whole year, so everyone knows what’s expected of them.

We need to work together and communicate clearly, and we achieve that by leveraging the right tools to help us stay connected and on task, even though we might be in different places. It’s equally as important for us to make sure our systems are up-to-date and work as well together as our people do.

This way, we take what might be seen by the uninitiated as a challenge with so many colleagues spread far and wide geographically and use it as our strength. This allows us to enjoy incredible project development processes and delivery, even when we’re working remotely.
