With plenty of comings and goings around the industry, allow CasinoBeats to give you the rundown on a number of recent manoeuvres.

Bragg Gaming Group

Oryx Gaming’s parent company Bragg Gaming Group has announced that founder and interim CEO Adam Arviv has named Richard Carter to the role of CEO of the company, effective May 1, 2021.

Arviv, founder and among the largest shareholders of the company, previously petitioned the board to place him in the role of CEO in September 2020 amid disappointment with the negative effects of continued underperformance. Subsequently, he strategically recruited Carter as board chair.

“We’ve made significant progress in our strategic goals over the past months, and Richard is the ideal person to advance our plans – expanding our current market overseas and aggressively moving into the US market,” added Arviv.

“Richard is a recognised authority in the online sports and casino betting industry, with a proven record helping launch SBTech in the US market, before the successful sale of the company to DraftKings. We’re working together to make the necessary adjustments as we transform Bragg into a major player.”

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment

Connecticut-based casino operator Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment has appointed Bobby Soper to the new role of international president.

In his role, Soper will represent MGE in Asia as he oversees, coordinating and directing all aspects of the company’s efforts related to both Inspire Korea Project in South Korea and its joint bid for an integrated resort license in Nagasaki, Japan with Oshidori International.

“Having served the Mohegan Tribe and MGE for many years, we are confident in Bobby’s experience and capabilities to guide our efforts on the ground in Asia,” said James Gessner, chairman of the Mohegan Tribe.

“Bobby’s leadership and presence representing MGE will serve as a catalyst and result in significant progress with both of these important international project commitments.”

Videoslots

Online casino operator Videoslots has appointed Peter Sjoberg to the role of chief operating officer. He joined Videoslots as its head of customer services in 2018 and was quickly promoted to director of customer services.

Sjoberg, who has also held senior positions at Betclic and Unibet, will use his 15 years of industry experience to oversee the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the company.

“Peter is a dedicated, hands-on and performance driven colleague. During his time at Videoslots he has earned a reputation as someone who brings strong leadership, vision and integrity to every role he takes,” Alexander Stevendahl, Videoslots’ CEO, noted.

“I am confident that his appointment as COO will mean we can accomplish even bigger and better things as a brand, and I am very much looking forward to us hitting our targets together in the coming months.”

Genius Sports

Genius Sports has confirmed the appointment of David Levy as new company chairman, as the company moves to imminently list on the New York Stock Exchange.

A figurehead in US sports and entertainment, Levy is the former president of Turner Broadcasting, credited with radically diversifying the news broadcaster’s media portfolio.

During his 30-year executive tenure at Turner, Levy played an instrumental role in defining and expanding the company’s media rights by securing long-term partnerships with the NBA, MLB, NCAA and PGA.

“The capture and analysis of data has become fundamental to the rapid progression of the sports and media sectors. Genius is central to this unique ecosystem and is consistently leading the sports data and technology industry’s development,” Levy said.

“I am thrilled to join the business at such a historic time and look forward to working as part of the team.”

Spotlight Sports Group

Spotlight Sports Group continues to broaden its US market presence with the appointment of Justin Geiger as VP of US sales. Based in Washington DC, he becomes the first senior commercial recruit operating from the US as the group grows its commercial capabilities within the space.

In the role, which focuses largely on B2B sports betting content and partnerships with media and sports betting operators through Pickswise, Geiger will be tasked with growing the portfolio of US B2B and media partners.

Sam Houlding, Spotlight Sports Group’s chief commercial officer, noted: “It’s a timely appointment for the group in the US following the really strong foundation we’ve set with the growth of Pickswise and the establishment of our US B2B business which provides high-quality sports betting content taking customers beyond the odds.

“Justin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the landscape and I’ve no doubt he’ll be a great success in advancing our business efforts as we look to scale quickly and further build on our operation in the coming months.”

It’s certainly been a busy week for slot launches, with a number of new entrants gracing the CasinoBeats inbox. So, sit back and get to grips with a select few in one handy bite-size chunk.

Oryx Gaming – Battle Dwarf

Developed by Oryx’s remote gaming server brands Golden Hero and JTG studios, Battle Dwarf is the second title in the supplier’s catalogue that brings the Japanese pachislot experience to Europe, combining a 3-reel, 5 fixed-payline with an arcade-style title.

Packaged in a theme that takes players deep into the mines to dig for breath-taking jewels and fight against fierce dragons, the firm stresses that the new introduction comes packed with a number features that have proved popular in Asia and particularly the Japanese market.

Matevz Mazij, managing director of Oryx Gaming, said of the new game: “The release of Battle Dwarf cements our position as a trailblazer in the gaming industry, as it is only through our content that European players can enjoy the thrill of the pachislot gaming experience.

“Battle Dwarf offers our partners an exciting concept that will capitalise on the increasing popularity of Japanese games in Western markets, and we are certain its performance will be outstanding across the board.”

Play’n Go – Inferno Joker/3 Hand Casino Hold’em

Releasing two new titles on the same day, the gaming content supplier has unveiled a brand new slot titled Inferno Joker alongside a table poker game, 3 Hand Casino Hold’em.

Inferno Joker is a 5×3 grid slot featuring classic slot symbols including gold bars, lucky 7’s, fruits and more, providing a blend between classic slot gaming and modern designs and features.

3 Hand Casino Hold’em follows the gameplay of poker in its traditional form but allows the player to play three hands at the table simultaneously, tripling their chances of achieving winning hands.

Johan Törnqvist, CEO of Play’n Go, stated: “We are well-known for our slot prowess, and Inferno Joker is a strong addition to our extensive portfolio.

“With the release of 3-Hand Casino Hold’em we are highlighting, not only the variety of entertainment that we have to offer but also showing that we are bringing the same creativity and innovation that we bring to our slot to our table games as well.

“We are entering the final throes of 2019, it’s important for us to finish just as strongly as we started and with what we have planned, that’s exactly what we’ll do.”

Kalamba Games – Zombie Queen

With big wins buried in a haunted graveyard, in the 6×4, 50 payline slot, walking multiplier wilds, a new feature in the supplier’s cabinet, enters reels during the base game to maintain player interest and build win anticipation.

Kalamba’s monetisation boosting HyperBonus and HyperBet also feature, which it states offer an even greater thrill for players by allowing them to buy into the free spin round or adjust the value of the wild multipliers in the reels.

After any win sequence, the Zombie Queen appears on the screen offering more chances to win payouts of up to 1930x the original bet.

“The Zombie Queen brings the fun filled graveyard theme in this spooky slot to life and we’re certain her character will be an instant hit with players,” noted Alex Cohen, COO and co-founder of Kalamba Games.

“The new walking multiplier wilds in Zombie Queen, coupled with our proven signature features, make this a highly engaging title for any portfolio, offering multiple levels of anticipation and excitement that boosts operator revenues with strong player retention rates.”

NetEnt – Twin Happiness

Striving to add an Asian twist to a tried and tested NetEnt slot, the 5-reel, 3-row entry sees at least two of the reels synchronised and linked together.

During the spin the reels can expand to become triplet, quadruplet or even quintuplet reels on 243 ways pay configuration. Twin Happiness also includes Wild symbols, which appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 and substitute for all symbols.

“As our first authentically designed Asian slot, we are really happy with the results. The linked reel mechanics remain the core of this title, but the Asian-style graphics and sounds will appeal to old and new slot fans alike. We’re expecting it to be a go-to game for many players.” said Bryan Upton, NetEnt director of games.

Evoplay Entertainment – Reign of Dragons

Designed to be HTML5 mobile-perfect for handheld gaming, Reign of Dragons takes players into a universe of dragons and their masters – four charming ladies, each representing the elements of fire, air, water and earth.

The 5-reel, 20-payline slot’s big wins are triggered when the earth’s elements combine, unleashing the true power of the Reign of Dragons gameplay.

Alex Levchenko, CEO of Evoplay Entertainment, commented: “We’re delighted to be launching our most magical story yet! An enchanting soundtrack combined with our latest in graphics create an atmosphere of total immersion, so lean back, relax and enjoy the story play out on-screen while spinning to your heart’s content.”

Bragg Gaming has detailed the consolidation of all group companies under one single brand after the acquisitions of Wild Streak Gaming and Spin Games were finalised and content began to be rolled-out across North America.

It is said that the intention of this unification is to enhance the representation of the company’s international presence amid ambitions of expansion across existing and new regulated markets.

The process will see the company’s Oryx Gaming offices in Slovenia become Bragg Ljubljana, while Spin Games in the US and India will change to Bragg Reno and Bragg Chennai respectively.

Furthermore, the firm has also signalled an intention to open a Bragg Las Vegas office this year, adding to current bases in Toronto, London and Malta.

This fresh addition, said Bragg, will provide a base for existing employees from Wild Streak Gaming and Spin Games, as well as new hires.

These hubs, as well as technology, services and turnkey offering will move forward with the single brand of Bragg Gaming Group, while content output will retain the internal game studio monikers of Wild Streak Gaming, Spin Games, Atomic Slot Lab, Indigo Magic, and Oryx Gaming.

“As we consolidate our group companies under the single brand of Bragg, we celebrate the heritage, values and successes of Oryx Gaming, Spin Games and Wild Streak Gaming which have built us into the company we are today, and which will propel us into our next phase as a global igaming provider,” stated Yaniv Sherman, Chief Executive Officer of Bragg Gaming Group.

“We’re incredibly proud of the work that all of our colleagues have put in over the years which are the foundations we continue to build on.

“We’re sure that the renewed focus that our consolidation brings will be positively felt across our hubs in Toronto, Las Vegas, London, Ljubljana, Malta and Chennai and it will signal a new exciting era of growth for us all under the same umbrella with aligned values and goals.”

Under the terms of the deal, games from the Bragg Gaming Group subsidiary’s RGS partners, as well as content from its in-house studios, have become available to Fair Play’s customers, including the recently launched Atomic Slot Lab.

Highlighting the potential for future growth, recent figures published by the Dutch regulator showed GGR for the igaming sector was worth over $200m (€185m) in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Dutch igaming has been outperforming our expectations and in a short space of time we have established ourselves as a major platform and content supplier in the region,” added Chris Looney, Chief Commercial Officer at Bragg.
